Calvary Chapel Caneille | Update

“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Chirst Jesus.”
Phillippians 3:14

We are so very grateful for all God has done in 2011. Some highlights are given here. We thank God and you for being a part of of the work here in Caneille. Our mission remains the same: to share the gospel, teach the word, and show the love of Jesus.

Calvary Chapel Caneille

  • February – annual conference on the Book of Revelation with over 400 participating. What a joyful hope to study the return of our Savior!
  • March – celebration of “Moison”, a week long thanksgiving celebration to God. The theme, “Let all who have breath praise the Lord!” and praise Him we did.
  • June 26 – Sunday service in the new church complete with roof. Hallelujah!
  • June/July – 2 Vacation Bible Schools with children learning more about Jesus & many accepting Him into their hearts
  • August – first youth retreat “Walk with God” where many committed themselves to sexual purity.
  • October – Medical team saw over 1000 people in 4 days. Physical and spiritual healing as 20 accepted Christ.
  • November – Church benches with room for everyone in the growing congregation to sit.
  • December – arrival of 17 KW generator which will meet the increased electricity needs
  • December – began driling a well and praying for the Living Waters to spring forth!

Teaching of the Word and evangelism brought many to accept Christ. Bibles were distributed.
Increased love for the word – During a radio distribution last fall, the church was packed with people hoping they would be the one receiving a radio. Bastia felt a tug on his shirt. As he looked down, a 10 year old girl asked him, “Pastor, can I please have a Bible?” She is pictured above on the left with her two treasured possessions – her radio and Bible.

SCHOOL OF GRACE
School of Grace/elementary education enrolled 201 students. Each grade has a Bible class. Through Promise Child, every student received a uniform, shoes, books, and school lunch.
Seventh Grade – added to enable students to receive a Christian education without going to another city.
April – introduction to computer class opened to community. It was the first time some had ever seen a computer
Summer – carpentry class held under the mango tree

RADIO OPPORTUNITY – SOLAR POWERED RADIOS!
On New Year’s Day, over 140 children came to RCD’H to wish their families and friends “Happy New Year”. The radio remains a life changing tool as it proclaims the gospel, teaches the word, and encourages and edifies through praise music to the mostly illiterate Caneille community.
Solar powered radios are a coveted item. People love the radio! During the month of Janury, Galcom radio is offering to match $10 for every $10 given to purchase solar powered radios. Normally the cost of one radio is $20, but during the month of January one radio can be obtained for $10 thanks to Galcom who distributes the solar powered radios. If you would like to donate toward the radios, please indicate funds are for this purpose. See below for how to send funds. This is a great opportunity to bless someone with the precious word of God. This matching offer is good for Janaury only so please be timely in donating if you wish to give some radios.

MINISTRY SUPPORT

We have had some inquiries as to how to send funds. If you attend a church that supports Calvary Chapel Caneille, please contact them. If that is not an option, please e mail us and we can direct you to the best way this can be facilitated. God is actively moving in Caneille and is turning lives from practicing voodoo to living for Christ. After Bastia graduated from Calvary Chapel Bible College in 2005, he returned to Haiti to a fellowship of about 40 people. Today it has grown to 200-250 people every Sunday. Increased funds are needed to support the work. Monthly support and one time gifts are greatly appreciated to cover ongoing expenses for gas for the generator/vehicles, frequent vehicle repair/maintenance due to harsh road conditions, payroll for workers, seventh grade class, radio station, and resources to help individuals who are in need of food. clothing, medical care, etc. If the Spirit is prompting to support the work here, we thank God for answered prayer through you.

COMMUNICATIONS

We have had numerous computer/program related problems in getting out our updates. It is a long story, but we have now gone to “Mail Chimp” to send out our e mails. I am still learning their format, but we anticipate that we will be able to send communications easily and more frequently. We really want to keep in touch. You will be hearing from us more in 2012.

We wish to say a heartfelt thank you to each and every one who is participating through prayer, encouragement, and support for what God is doing in Caneille. In 2012, “press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus”. We wish you a very blessed new year of getting closer to Jesus and bearing fruit in His name.

With grateful hearts,
Pastor Bastia and Betty
