“Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters, As the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, So our eyes look to the LORD our God, Until He has mercy on us.” How often do we look and wait upon our Lord? When you know someone very well you can tell what they are thinking or how they are feeling by simply looking into their eyes. Do we know the Lord so much that we can just wait upon Him and know exactly what He would have us to do? May we wait upon His move more than anything or anyone else in this world.

“Two MBB’s (a 41 year old mother and her 20 year old daughter) were intentionally struck by a car her husband was driving as they tried to flee their house from two days ago.”

This was the message we received recently regarding two MBB (Muslim Background Believers) women in the Middle East in need of urgent prayer. Struck by a car driven by the woman’s own husband. What must this two women have thought? What fears raged in their mind as they tried to flee for their lives? And what was the crime that incited this incident? Accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

When they first came to Christ, they began to share with their two young sons. However, one of them told their father. From this time on, they had problems. They moved to another city and began to be discipled over the internet but the husband discovered what was going on. When he threatened to kill them, they tried to escape but he ran his car into them.

The message went on to share that both women were in the hospital. The mother suffered a broken back and is still in need of further care. The daughter required surgery for a broken pelvis. They were in immediate need of $1,000 to pay for the medical expenses. The email asked if we would pray about helping with this cost.

Within moments, an email arrived in our office letting us know of a recent donation made into our ministry account. The amount? $1,000.

We were delighted to be able to let them know that God had answered their prayer and met their need. The money was on the way.

However, besides the financial expenses, the two women are still in need of much prayer. They have since been transferred to another hospital for their protection from the husband.

The persecution they are under is very real. Mission International takes part in supporting Believers such as these in the Middle East. The danger of MBBs is not just from outside extremist but even within their own family.

Our ministry colleague went on to tell us:

“We assist them through Christian discipleship and financial assistance now and try to keep them alive, away from danger. We don’t know any other thing. We walk step by step because we don’t know anything for tomorrow, only today.”

We don’t know about tomorrow either, but we are confident that Jehova-Jireh, who provided for their financial needs will also provide for their protection. Would you intercede with us on their behalf?

Dear friends and family, We have GREAT EXPECTATIONS, how about you? Dave Vollmer, Mike Skillman, and I recently spent the better part of a beautiful Saturday down at Leesville lake, our 85 acre property just south of Lynchburg. I was … read more...

Dear friends and family,

We have GREAT EXPECTATIONS, how about you? Dave Vollmer, Mike Skillman, and I recently spent the better part of a beautiful Saturday down at Leesville lake, our 85 acre property just south of Lynchburg. I was amazed to see just how long the coastline of the property went. The gently rolling hills whispered a fresh vision for what could be. We have included some pictures to refresh your memory and to ask you to pray for us as well. Please pray that the Lord’s vision will become crystal clear to us in the near future. We are looking to the future with GREAT EXPECTATIONS!

At Head Waters Lodge property I was astonished when I saw how GREAT our lower cabin looks. Staffer Matt Basinger and his new bride, Karmen, have moved into the lower cabin, which has brought about its transformation! With a new foundation, new cabinets, new lighting, and other improvements, the cabin looks great! This made me think of the other YDI couples now married; Donnie and Carla Bates, James and Angela Howdeyshell, Paul and Jessica O’Brien. Just a simple thought that the ministry of YDI reaches not only young boys and girls from all over the country, but brings together young couples to form families. YDI for these families was a place of GREAT EXPECTATIONS!

YDI still covets our prayers. For a season we have been waiting and praying about college students. While here, students will work and live in the ministry and simultaneously be studying to earn an Associate, Bachelors, or Masters degree in Biblical Studies or Christian Education. YDI will become the initial East Coast campus for students attending Calvary Chapel University online. Our initial class will be limited to 12 students allowing us to work out the details of a small group setting. The total cost for room and board will be $750 a month. Having a campus at YDI is an outgrowth of our old Wilderness Bible Institute started by Roger. We have seen God use this model in the past and have GREAT EXPECTATIONS for the future. Our first class of students will be arriving in August.

Finally, how are you doing with expectations in your life? Hannah was not doing well. She was teased and mocked, an outcast of sorts. On top of it all, she was losing hope in her vision for her life. Getting too old to have children all hope seemed lost. However, God had GREAT EXPECTATIONS for her Hannah. In Sam 1:5 we read, “But to Hannah he would give a double portion.” Consider that, in your life, the area that is most distressing and hurtful for you at the moment is the very area the Lord already has a double blessing prepared for you. Yup, in the hurt of the current difficulty lies the blessing of your hearts desire. How did Hannah experience this blessing? In the same manner you and I will, she WAITED ON THE LORD. He did the rest!

We appreciate your prayers and will be giving more details next month.
