What is essential to Jesus? • Matthew 25:35-40

So often, we as believers get caught up with Christian titles, like Pastor, Senior Pastor, Elders, Deacons, Evangelist, Prophets, Teacher, etc. So often, many churches have split over titles and positions, but we see in Scripture our example of what is essential to Jesus in ministry.

A few weeks ago, we saw in Matthew 25:34 the King, kingdom, and the inheritance that Jesus promises us. But what is to follow is what is the most essential to our Lord. If you really want to inherit this kingdom He promises us, here it is: Matthew 25:35 it starts with Jesus saying “for I was ” hungry, thirsty, and a stranger, and you ministered to those according to their need. In other words, you fed, you gave something to drink, you took in the stranger. In verses 37-39, the disciples ask Jesus, "When have we done any of these?" And I love my Jesus's answer to them in verse 40: “And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these, My brethren, you did it to Me."

We need to be busy ministering to those who come in need, whether it's a spiritual or a physical need. These bless our Lord! Lord, please help me be an instrument in your hands; have your way in me. Amen!
